Ailsa Pocock founder of Astek Dental Centre

Ailsa Pocock dip,CDT,RCS, qualified as a Dental Technician in 1979 when it was still a city and guilds course. She worked in general dentistry in private practice for several years before taking up a post at Guy’s hospital where she worked in the conservation lab with graduate dental students doing crown and bridge work.

She set up Astek Dental Laboratory in 1985 originally based in Ham, Surrey. After 8 years the laboratory moved to Fetcham. Ailsa is married to Paul has a very busy life with 4 children.

Ailsa recently became one of the first female students to qualify as a Clinical Dental Technician  (CDT) in England after passing a demanding course of studies run by the Royal College of Surgeons. This  new qualification is recognised by dentists and  enables her to provide a wider scope to practice, including managing her own patients for the construction of dental appliances.

Ailsa’s long standing dream in which patients can be seen by one of Astek Dental Center’s dentists and have all their needs taken care of in one place through her highly qualified hand picked laboratory technicians, was realised when she recently cut the tape to her new Astek Dental Centre.

Ailsa also provides a home visit service for elderly patients who need denture service. This takes her out into the community visiting nursing homes, hospitals and the patients’ own homes adding a more personal touch.

The Centre is located in Fetcham Surrey and has a large car park at rear with easy access.
